Ok so I got the Dots down but cant do the cut and paste thing! So this was my fav out of all the dots I did.
It's a copy and paste thing... first you need to select one of the dots.... the wand tool makes it easy... after it is selected, you can copy it then paste....
I have also found that in GIMP you can use the rectangle selection tool to outline an area that you want to put into the grid design. Just select the tool and outline the shape of a square in the area you want to copy, copy it, and paste it into a new document to begin the grid.
